Our commitment to diversity and inclusion

Diversity & inclusion

At Crouch End Festival Chorus, we want everyone to feel welcome and included no matter who you are or where you come from

Why it matters to us

We know that, like many classical music groups, we don’t yet reflect the amazing diversity of our local community here in Haringey and North London and we’re determined to change that.

That starts with understanding the challenges and being honest about our own biases. Our leaders take diversity training seriously, and we have a dedicated Diversity and Inclusion manager on our team. We also follow a clear policy and action plan to make sure we’re doing everything we can to welcome and celebrate diversity.

What we're doing
Connecting with our community

We want our choir to reflect the rich mix of people around us

Tracking our progress

We regularly check how we’re doing and share updates on our diversity goals

Training our team

Our committee and trustees get ongoing support and guidance to make inclusive decisions

Singing is for everyone

We believe all that matters is having a good voice. You don’t need to read music or have choir experience to join us. If you’re new to singing in a big choir, we’ll assign you a mentor to help you settle in and grow your confidence.

Opening doors

We run workshops for people in our local area and offer free tickets to groups who might not usually get the chance to come, like refugees and asylum seekers. Our goal is to grow our audiences and make our choir more diverse over time.
