Sing with us

Recruiting now for tenors and basses

We are recruiting tenors and basses for our 2010/11 programme of concerts, which starts with Berlioz’s epic Grande Messe des Morts at the Barbican on Saturday 9 October. The first three rehearsals of the season, on Fridays 3, 10 and 17 September, will be special open rehearsals: if you are a tenor or bass, please come along and see what it’s like singing with us. For more information, contact Catherine Best at membership@cefc.org.uk.  And if you have friends or colleagues who might be interested, why not download and print off this open rehearsal leaflet to show them?

Guest tenors and basses welcome

If you are an experienced singer who would like to join us as a guest for the Berlioz, please contact Catherine Best at membership@cefc.org.uk.

How do new singers join the choir?

First contact Emily Soppet, our recruitment secretary, by email: newmembers@cefc.org.uk.

By arrangement with Emily, you’ll be able to come to one or two of our Friday rehearsals to see if you think the choir is the right one for you. (Please see above if you are hoping to come to one of our special open rehearsals for tenors and basses in September 2010.) If you decide you would like to join the choir you should complete an application form as soon as possible and send it to the address given, or hand it to Emily at one of your trial rehearsals.

You will be invited to take a voice test either on a Friday evening before the rehearsal or, if we have several applicants at once, on a different evening in Muswell Hill. There’s more about the voice test below, and full details will be given to you when you apply to join.

There is often a waiting list for voice tests, particularly in the soprano and alto sections. However, we will make every effort to hear new singers as soon as we can.
