Prayer of the Heart
Saturday 10 February 2018 7:30 PM
St John’s Smith Square
Crouch End Festival Chorus
David Temple - conductor
In an exciting collaboration with the Brodsky Quartet - one of the UK’s greatest and most brilliantly explorative string quartets - Crouch End Festival Chorus showcases music by British and American composers as part of St John’s Smith Square’s year-long festival of Americana, marking Bernstein’s centenary.
The programme features music for a cappella choir, including Tippett’s Five Spirituals and a performance of a work specially arranged for CEFC: Paul Patterson’s Time Piece. There will also be pieces for string quartet only, including Copland’s quintessentially American Hoe Down and Golijov’s Tenebrae; and, for choir and quartet, Tarik O’Regan’s The Ecstasies Above and John Tavener’s Prayer of the Heart - which was originally written for Björk and the Brodsky Quartet.
