Crouch End Festival Chorus teams up with the renowned BBC Concert Orchestra and talented Musical Theatre graduates of the Royal Academy of Music for a performance celebrating the 100th anniversary year of Leonard Bernstein's birth.

Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture is full of violence and passion, and is the perfect start to a concert which concludes with Bernstein's West Side Story Suite No. 2, based on the same Shakespeare play.

Ryan Latimer – who was born in 1990, the year Bernstein died – brings us his new composition Frigates & Folly, a work full of colour and energy, based on the story of Moby Dick. And the audience will also be treated to Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, a wonderfully approachable work where the composer thumbs his nose at the austere and complex music of the time.
