Mozart: Requiem and Solemn Vespers

Thursday 20 October, 7.30pm | Barbican, London

Crouch End Festival Chorus
London Orchestra da Camera

David Temple conductor
Katherine Watson soprano
Jennifer Johnston contralto
Robert Murray tenor
Ashley Riches bass

The Requiem is Mozart’s towering choral achievement and also one of his most enigmatic works. Left unfinished at Mozart’s death, the mysterious story of its completion has been the subject of endless speculation and debate. None of this should obscure the fact that it is without doubt one of the greatest and most popular of choral works.

Crouch End Festival Chorus presents this monumental work along with two other Mozartian choral gems, his Solemn Vespers (Vesperae solennes de confessore) and the enchantingly beautiful Ave Verum Corpus.  Alongside this is the beguiling Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Mozart’s serenade in G major for strings.

This concert is dedicated to the memory of David Bedford (1937-2011), a good friend to Crouch End Festival Chorus.
