Monteverdi Vespers
Friday 24 & Saturday 25 April 2009
St James Church, Muswell Hill, London
With Emma Kirkby and period instruments
Written 399 years ago, Monteverdi’s Vespers has become a popular concert piece – highly complex, beautiful, at times tranquil, often buoyant. With period instruments and world class soloists, these performances promise to be a highlight of the musical year.
Emma Kirkby is a world-renowned interpreter of early music. She enjoys a concert career that in 2009 takes her across Europe and the United States and to South Korea. She has made over 100 recordings.
