Britten: War Requiem
Saturday 7 November, 7.30pm | Barbican, London
Britten’s great work combines the traditional Latin Mass of the Dead with poems by Wilfred Owen, the soldier-poet who died in the 1st World War aged 25. Britten uses adult and children’s voices to poignant effect. The Requiem was a huge success at its premiere, at the consecration of the new Coventry Cathedral.
Crouch End Festival Chorus returns to the Barbican following summer performances at the BBC Proms and at Kenwood House.
