How often do we rehearse?
Rehearsals are every Friday evening in Muswell Hill at 7.30 to 10.00pm with a short break for tea and coffee. In the week preceding a concert, we also have at least one other rehearsal, typically a Monday or Thursday evening, plus a dress rehearsal on the day of the concert. We have breaks for the academic holidays at Christmas, Easter and during the summer.
Where do we rehearse?
Rehearsals are usually in the South Wing of Fortismere School, entrance on Tetherdown, N10, almost opposite Kings Avenue.Click here for a map.
How often do we perform?
We usually promote four or five of our own concerts each year. Members are expected to sing in at least three – you can of course do all of them if you wish! We also ask you not to miss more than two rehearsals for any one concert. In addition, we are often approached to perform for other promoters and we encourage our members to take part in as many of these as they can. These may be recordings (sometimes of film music) or concerts, for example The BBC Proms, or with the RPO or other top orchestras.
Do we pay subscriptions?
Yes, members currently pay £164 per year (£82 concessions). The money is used to fund our concerts and is a major part of the income necessary to book fantastic venues such as the Royal Festival Hall and the Barbican.
